About Us

Barkman’s Cartage is a third-generation family-owned business that was established in 1932. It was started by Klass R. Barkman. He started by hauling milk, cattle, hogs, produce, grain, and gravel, in winter this was hauled with horse and wagon. In 1958 the business found a permanent home in Kleefeld MB. It was shortly after, that the business switched to being solely a gravel company, which did snow clearing in winter.

In 1972 it became an incorporated partnership between K.R. Barkman and his son Bruce Barkman. Bruce became sole owner in 1978 and ran the business for 30 years, while his sons drove truck for him.

In 2008 Barkman’s Cartage was sold to Bruce’s 2 sons, Russell and Keith Barkman. Today the company is owned by Russ and Keith. Currently, Barkman’s has a fleet of 12 trucks and 6 loaders, with many trailers. It continues to be a family business as the next generation of Barkman’s are driving truck.
